Fashion Forward 2015

This April, the historic Fairbanks Elementary School building will “spring” back to life with Fashion Forward. You’re invited to the first annual fashion show event to benefit the Fairbanks restoration project and the Boys and Girls Clubs (BGC) of Springfield.

Amy Blansit and husband, Drew Lewis, dreamed big and took a leap of faith purchasing the landmark Fairbanks building. Although Drew lost his battle with cancer in May 2013, Amy continues to work to achieve their shared vision of community betterment. Now, the Fairbanks, in partnership with BGC, wants to “pay it forward” in Fashion Forward by dedicating the day’s events to the children in our community.

On April 11, 2015, starting at noon, children’s events will begin at the Henderson Unit of the Boys and Girls Clubs. Services include: health and wellness screenings, healthy meals, shoes, clothes, haircuts, and hygiene kits. The evening’s events will take place at the Fox Theatre downtown, featuring the children served that afternoon, along with local models, in a fashion show that will present the new summer styles. You are invited to arrive at the Fox Theatre at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 per person for general admission or $100 per person for VIP event and seating with a Special Value of $80 per person for a VIP party of 10 ($800 total). Join us for the fashion show, fine wine, appetizers, a silent art auction, and music.

All proceeds will go directly to the Drew Lewis Foundation education and neighborhood enhancement projects at the Fairbanks, with a goal of $5,000 to be donated to the partnership between The Fairbanks and the BGC Henderson unit. The funds will support the National Fine Arts Exhibit Program and music appreciation.

We hope you will join us for Fashion Forward, an extraordinary event that will make our community a better place to live!

On April 11, 2015, the Drew Lewis Foundation @ The Fairbanks hosted Fashion Forward, which consisted of wellness events at the Henderson Unit of the Boys and Girls Club followed by a fashion show benefit at the Fox Theatre in downtown Springfield. A total of 55 students from Missouri State University service-learning classes worked with 70 volunteers from the community to successfully carry out this event.

Starting at noon, 100 local families were invited to participate in wellness activities free of charge at the Henderson Unit of the Boys and Girls Club. Children from these families had the opportunity to receive health screenings, get a haircut, enjoy a healthy meal, engage in physical activity, and obtain basic hygiene items.

That evening, Fashion Forward events continued with a fashion show benefit at the Fox Theatre. The show featured 30 children from the Boys and Girls Club, along with 40 adult models representing 9 local boutiques. 186 Attendees enjoyed fine wine, appetizers, live music, and a silent art auction. All proceeds from the evening directly supported the partnership between The Fairbanks and the Henderson Unit of the Boys and Girls Club. The funds will support the National Fine Arts Exhibit Program and music appreciation.

We would like to thank our sponsors, volunteers, and community members for helping us produce a very successful first annual Fashion Forward event!
